- Chemical reaction :
Positive plates are PbO2, negative plates are in sponge shape, electrolye is not running diluted suleric acid, before when battery recharged after charging completed, water will dissolved inside electrolyte, the result will generate oxygen at positive polarity, hydrogen at negative polarity, will cause battery internal electrolyte decreased, need water supplement at all time. The chemical reation of VRLA batteries are sealed at final stage of charging, for the oxygen generated at the positive polarity will be absorbed by the negative plates.(圖1)
- Priliminary stage of charging → middle stage
According to charging chemical reation of chart 2, there won’t be gas generated when water electrolyzed.
- Final stage of charging :
At the final satge of charging, charging energy is used for water electrolyzation, so the oxygengenerated from positive plates react with sulfuric acid from charging negative plates’ sponge shape lead and electrolyte.(圖3)
